Bankastraat 3, Maastricht
At a time when technology is dramatically changing how we experience our physical environments, what does it mean to vocalize a world that is not centered on the human?
Zones of tones, a new work-in-progress presented during Dag van de Componist at Intro in Situ, explores how sound can mediate alternative ways of sensing and understanding place. Developed in dialogue with sound composer Benny Nilsen and in collaboration with neuroscientists and physiologist, the work draws on field recordings collected across diverse environments and investigates how nonhuman sonic phenomena might reshape our conscious awareness through sound, rhythm, and vibration. Rather than representing a landscape from a human perspective, Zones of tones imagines sound as an autonomous agent, one capable of revealing hidden relationships between bodies, environments and perceptual systems. Through an immersive choreographic sound installation, the work examines how listening can become a form of attunement to processes that exist beyond human cognition, inviting visitors to encounter place as a dynamic ecology of resonances, rhythms, and vibrations.
On the same evening, Italian composer Francesca Fantini will present her research.

Limestone Books
Grote Gracht 63, Maastricht
Join us for an afternoon of collective reading, reflection, and conversation around the new publication at the edge of connection. Through a series of prompts, shared excerpts, and a dialogue between (social) choreographer, dancer, and visual artist Clarinde Wesselink and artist/publisher Nina Glockner (n.k.g. publications), we will explore the research that underpins this project, and the urgencies for publishing performative and somatic practices, concluding with special Lichens Cocktails.
